Coasters on the Cob
This product was created as part of the Connection Project in my CAD modeling class. It was designed using SolidWorks and brought to life through 3D printing. Throughout the project, I practiced and refined my CAD modeling skills, learning how to transform initial sketches into a finalized, tangible product.

Materials PLA Plastic
01 Form Prototype Exploration
Design DevelopmentDeveloped multiple design concepts and explored a range of forms for the ‘connection’ project.
Gathered peer and expert evaluations on design concepts.
02 Design Progress
Redesign and RefinementResketched the chosen design in a more refined way, building upon previous variations.
Made necessary adjustments to the design based on improvements from feedback.
PrototypingIterated on the design in SolidWorks to refine proportions and details.
Experimented with various approaches to designing in SolidWorks.
03 Production Procedure
3D PrintingFinalized design on SolidWorks and made sure of the size and proportions.
Made a test piece to check the connection and any necessary adjustments.
Sent the finalized file to the Industrial Design CAD Lab for 3D printing.
04 Final Ideation
FinalizationEnsured the size of the coasters was accurate and finalized.
Made sure the 3D printing filament was changed correctly.
Printed the final set and refined the edges for a clean finish.
