The Kamal Chair - كرسي الكمال

This piece was dedicated to my grandmother’s house, a place that holds a special place in my heart. The chair was designed to resemble the Arabic letter ‘كـ’, the initial of her surname. Its style was inspired by her taste in furniture, and it featured a pillow embroidered in traditional Levantine patterns—reminiscent of one I vividly remember from her home.

The project, titled "Seat from a Sheet", presented several challenges. We were required to create a 1:4 scale seat using only a single sheet of material. For the cushions and pillow, I used a silk and embroidered fabric, referencing a chair from my grandmother’s house for the design. I stitched the cushion using a sewing machine and finished the seat with a wood stain.
